Includes displays from the former Louisiana Maritime Museum. The Kidd, which still retains her World War II appearance, rests in cradles which allows the public to inspect the ships bottom during late summer when the river's water level is at its lowest.

USS Kidd (1943), destroyer DD-661. A Fletcher-class destroyer named after Rear Admiral, Issac C. Kidd, Jr., killed at Pearl Harbour.

A 51 feet fresh water lock, which at its completion in 1909 had the highest lift in the world. After the lock having been replaced by a new lock at Port Allen, the Plaquemine Lock Museum was opened in 1983. The history of the Mississippi River and its shipping is also illustrated.
