THE CLIPPER BARQUE ROCKET, of 400 tons, now on the passage from this port to Valparaiso, was also designed and built under the superintendence of Mr. Goddard. In proportion to her size, she is built in the same style as the Dauntless. She has very sharp ends, and is of a beautiful model. Her length on the keel is 132 feet, and on deck 136; breadth of beam 26, depth 16½, dead rise at half floor 15 inches, swell of sides 6 inches, and sheer two feet. She is commanded by Capt. Chatfield, a young man of much promise, and considerable experience as a sailor, and is intended to trade in the Pacific. Our marine surveyors speak of the Dauntless and Rocket, in the highest terms; and well they may, for no two vessels of the same size have been so costly.
