Early Iron Boat
On Tuesday, the 20th, a new pleasure boat, constructed of
sheet-iron, was launched into the river Foss, Yorkshire.
She is 12 feet in length, 6 in breadth, has sailed with 15 persons on
board, and may be conveyed to and from the river by two men.

John Wilkinson, of Brosely, an iron-master, on the 6th July, 1787,
launched at Willey, in Shropshire, an iron barge for trade on the
Severn river.
