An iron full-rigged ship built in 1877 by Harland & Wolff, Belfast, as hull no. 114. Dimensions 78,69×22,59×6,95 meters [258'0"×38'0"×22'8"] and tonnage 1664 GRT, 1569 NRT and 1479 tons under deck.

1877 November 21: Launched at the shipyard of Harland & Wolff, Belfast.
1878 January 5: Delivered to J.P. Corry & Co., Belfast. Assigned the official British Reg. No. 78105 and signal SCKG. Employed in the Indian jute trade.
1877-1878: In command of Captain E. Hughes.
1878: Sailed from London to Calcutta in 106 days.
1878 June 29 - October 5: Sailed from Calcutta to London in 98 days.
1879 November 1 - February 5: Sailed from London to Calcutta in 96 days.
1879-1894: In command of Captain Hugh Wilson for 15 years.
1881 September 26 - December 29: Sailed from London to Calcutta in 94 days.
1883 November 3 - February: Sailed from Calcutta to London in 93 days.
1884 July 1 - October: Sailed from Cardiff to San Francisco in 122 days.
