Five-masted schooners
According to David R. McGregor the first five-masted schooner built on the
American East Coast was the Governor Ames of 1888 together with the
Louis, which was converted from a steamer. The first true
five-masted schooner built on the West Coast was the
Inca built at Port Blakely in 1896.
