Andelana
A four-masted steel barque built in 1889 by Richard Williamson & Son, Workington.
Dimensions: 92,52×12,85×7,46 meters [303'7"×42'2"×24'6"], tonnage: 2512 GRT, 2418 NRT and 2337 tons under deck.
The forecastle was 27 ft long and the poop 45 ft.
Rigged with royal sails over single topgallant and double topsails. The lower and topmasts were made in one piece.
Belonged to the group of six four-masted barques called the Workington Sisters consisting of
Eusemere (1890),
Pendragon Castle (1891),
Vortigern (1891)
Caradoc (1892) and
Conishead (1892).

Son, Workington, for the Andelana Ship Co. (E.F. & W. Roberts), Liverpool.
Assigned the Official British Reg. No. ____ and signal ____.
Captain J. Gillis was given command of the ship.

- While at anchor in ballast at Tacoma, Puget Sound, WA, the chains to the ballast logs broke at a sudden squall during the night and ship capsized and sank.
The master and the crew of 18 were all killed when the ship went down.
