Bracadale

A four-masted iron barque built in 1887 by A. Stephen & Sons, Glasgow. Dimensions 86,91×12,31×7,21 meters [285'2"×40'5"×23'8"] and tonnage 2015 GRT and 1962 NRT. Rigged in jubilee fashion, i.e. with nothing over double top- and topgallant sails. Sistership to the same owner's Armadale.

1887 April: Launched at the shipyard of A. Stephen & Sons, Glasgow, for J. & A. Roxburgh, Glasgow. The first master was Captain R. Peebles.
1897 June 25 - October 19: Sailed from San Francisco to Liverpool in 117 days.
1909: Sold to A.F. Klaveness & Co., Sandefjord, Norway, and renamed Svolder. The new master was Captain B.S. Andersen.
1910: The owning company was moved to Kristiania.
1911 November 5: Grounded outside Gothenburg on voyage from Sundsvall with a cargo of timber for Melbourne.
