Comet

A four-masted steel barque built in 1901 by W. Hamilton & Co., Port Glasgow. Dimensions 98,45×14,04×7,92 meters [323'0"×46'1"×26'0"] and tonnage 3014 GRT and 2890 NRT. Rigged with royal sails over double top and topgallant sails. Sistership to the same owner's fourmasted barque Nonpareil (1901).

1901 February: Launched at the shipyard of W. Hamilton & Co., for Anglo-American Oil Co., London. Captain W.J. Davies.
1901: Dis-masted during her maiden voyage to New York and was towed back by the SS Minneapolis.
1912: Sailed from New York to Hong Kong in 129 days with 129.000 cases of oil.
1912 November 9 — February 27: Sailed from Hong Kong to Sandy Hook in 109 days 17 hours. From Anjer Point 91 days 17 hours.
1913: Sold to Rhederei Akt. Gesellschaft von 1896, Hamburg, and was renamed Orotava. Captain F. Dreier.
1914: Interned in Santa Rosalia, Mexico, for the duration of the First World War.
c1920: Assigned to France as war damage reparations.
1921: Sold to Robert Dollar & Co., San Francisco, and was renamed James Dollar.
1929: Converted to barge and was renamed Crown Zellerbach No. 2.
19__: Used as a breakwater by Comox Logging & Railway Co. at Royston, Vancouver Island, BC.
