Metropolis
A four-masted iron barque built in 1887 by R.J. Evans, Liverpool.
Dimensions: 80,94×12,19×6,92 meters [265'7"×40'0"×22'9"] and tonnage: 1811 GRT and 1759 NRT.
Rigged with royal sails over double top and single topgallant sails.
Appear in Lloyd's Register as ship rigged.

- Launched at the shipyard of R.J. Evans, Liverpool,
for William Thomas & Co., Liverpool. Captain G.O. Williams.
- 1898 [?]
- Sailed from Cardiff to Hong Kong in 91 days.
- 1915 April
- Sold to A/S Metropolis (Thv.B. Heistein & Sønner A/S), Kristiansand, Norway, for £ 6500. Captain J.A. Tornsen was given command of the ship.
- 1915 June
- Had a narrow escape from being sunk by a submarine.
- 1917 April 22
- Sunk by the German submarine U 61 in postion 48°30'N, 11°15'W, west of the Scilly Islands, on voyage from Philadelphia to Le Havre in ballast.
