Pisagua

A four-masted steel barque built in 1892 by Joh. C. Tecklenborg, Geestemünde. Dimensions 95,70×13,58×7,94 meters [314'8"×44'7"×26'1"] and tonnage 2906 GRT and 2763 NRT. Rigged with royal sails over double top and top-gallant sails.

Sistership to the same owner's Placilla.

1892 September 23: Launched at the shipyard of Joh. C. Tecklenborg, Geestemünde, for F. Laeisz, Hamburg. Assigned the German identification signal RJPT.
1892-1893: In command of Captain J. Früdden.
1892: Sailed from Lizard Point to Valparaiso in 71 days.
1893: Sailed from Iquique to Lizard Point in 74 days.
1893-1901: In command of Captain C.E.F.J. Bahlke.
1893/1894: Sailed from Iquique to the English Channel in 78 days.
1894: Sailed from the English Channel to Taltal in 69 days.
1894: Sailed from Iquique to Lizard Point in 77 days.
1894/1895: Sailed from Lizard Point to Iquique in 69 days.
1895/1896: Sailed from Lizard Point to Valparaiso in 67 days.

1904/1905: Sailed from Tocopilla to Elbmündung in 87 days.
1907: Sailed from Lizard Point to Valparaiso in 76 days.
1908: Sailed from Lizard Point to Valparaiso in 65 days.
1909: In command of Captain J. Frömcke.
1910-1912: In command of Captain R. Dahm.
1912 March 12: In collision with the Peninsular & Oriental Steamship Co. steamer Oceana at Beachy Head and had to be towed into Dover for repairs.
1912 June 5: Sold to A/S Ørnen (Søren L. Christensen), Sandefjord, Norway, and was rebuilt to a floating whale factory. Captain Larsen became the new master.
1913 February 12: Stranded at Low Island, South Shetland Islands, on voyage from Leith to Deception Island for whale catching.
