Rhône

A four-masted steel barque built in 1896 by Forges et chanties de la Meditérranée, La Seyne. Dimensions: 98,20×13,88×7,72 meters [322'2"×45'7"×25'4"] and tonnage: 3017 GRT and 2434 NRT. Rigged with royal sails of double top and topgallant sails.

Launched at the shipyard of Forges et chanties de la Meditérranée, La Seyne, for Ant. Dom. Bordes et fils, Dunkerque. Captain Goymague.

Sailed from Beachy Head to Iquique in 72 days.

Sailed from Iquique to the Lizards in 78 days.
1904 October 7
Stranded east of Dungeness but was refloated the following day with the aid of the Belgian salvage tug John Bull and taken to Dunkerque.
1907
Collided with the same owner's fourmast barque Pacifique in the neighborhood of the Falkland Islands during the exchange of articles. The Rhône repaird the damaged bowsprit in Valparaiso while Pacifique continued her voyage to Pisagua. Both masters lost their ships on account of the accident.

Sailed from Cardiff to Taltal in 111 days.

Laid up.
