Maju

An iron full-rigged ship built in 1874 by Brown & Simpson, Dundee, as Yard No. 28. Dimensions 61,46×9,79×6,47 meters [201'5"×32'1"×21'2"] and 953 GRT, 918 NRT and ____ tons under deck. Equipped with Napier's patent windlass and Low and Duff's patent pumps.

Launch of A New Ship.

Yesterday afternoon a finely modelled ship named Maju was launched from the yard of Messrs Brown & Simpson. The Maju is 1000 tons register, and is ranked in the highest class at Lloyd's. She has been built for Messrs Killick Martin & Co., shipowners of London, and is intended for the China trade. She is to be commanded by Captain John Smith, late of the China clippers Min & Lahloo.

The christening ceremony was successfully performed by Mss Margaret Ann Smith, the captain's eldest daughter, and the ship took the water amid the cheers of a very large number of spectators.
