Robert Rickmers

A four-masted iron barque built in 1888 by Russell & Co., Greenock. Dimensions 85,08×12,80×7,41 meters [279'3"×42'0"×24'4"] and tonnage 2262 GRT and 211 NRT. Rigged with royal sails over double top and topgallant sails.

1888 August: Launched at the shipyard of Russell & Co., Greenock, for Rickmers Reismühlen, Rhederei und Schiffbau AG, Bremerhaven. Captain H. Bruhn was in command of the vessel during her entire lifetime.
1904 June 17: Left Philadelphia, PA, for Hiago, Japan, with a cargo of case oil.
1904 October 8: Missing after having being spoken to by the four-masted barque Alcides while passing the Lombock straits. The Robert Rickmers most certainly was lost in the typhoon which followed and which completely dis-masted the Alcides.
